On Friday 29th September we, the Year 10 of the German and International system, with 98 students and 9 teachers, went on a day trip to the Lünersee in Austria. After a two-hour bus ride through picturesque countryside, we arrived at the car park at around 10.30 am, from where we took a gondola up the last few metres. We were greeted by a breathtaking mountain panorama when we stepped off the gondola. To satisfy our hunger, we ate schnitzel and apple strudel in the winter garden of the mountain hut at an altitude of almost 2,000 metres.
Well-fed, we were then divided into three groups. The first group, led by Benjamin Readford, ventured out on a more challenging trail, while the other two groups opted for the more relaxed path around the turquoise mountain lake. The almost two-hour walk around the lake gave us the opportunity to get to know each other, which led to interesting conversations, including between German and International students, and everyone had a great time.
During the trip, memories of Outward Bound in Norway from the previous school year came back to some of us, so funny stories were told and we had a good time.
We were lucky that the weather was so good and the sun was shining that some of us were even a little red at the end of the day. The trip ended, and at around 4pm we boarded three buses to go back to school. The beautiful nature, the interesting conversations and the happy togetherness made the trip a wonderful experience!
