Last Wednesday, the 10 Plus from Spetzgart went to the picturesque golf course in Owingen. The trip was organised by the class and included an introduction to golf etiquette and basic shots.
On arrival at the course, we were given a briefing by the local golf school on many of the rules that need to be followed when playing golf. We were told about the dress code for golf, how to book a tee time and which age groups play from which tees. We then moved straight on to putting, one of the basic strokes in golf. Each of us had the opportunity to putt a few balls on the large practice range. We also learnt how to chip. This short shot is usually used when you are close to the green. Another highlight was finding a golden golf ball, which was part of a big prize draw - some balls were distributed to golf courses all over Germany.
Before heading off for a well-deserved meal after about two hours, we were able to show off our skills on the driving range and hit a few long shots. The golfing day ended with a meal in the restaurant on the golf course, where we were able to look back on a great school year with Mrs Engstler.
