Art, Music and Theater

As a rule music lessons are conducted individually on a voluntary basis outside of regular classroom hours. Lessons take place on the school campus and are given by private teachers whose fees are paid by the student's parents. All students taking music lessons (instrumental or singing) may take the internationally recognized ABRSM examinations Salem's students are regularly amongst the prizewinners at the regional and national level of Germany's music competition, "Jugend musiziert".

Every two years, a music competition takes place in Salem, which is supported by the Felicitas-und-Werner-Egerland-Stiftung. The young people usually spend weeks preparing for the audition, so that they can then demonstrate their skills at the coveted prize-winners' concert and receive due applause.

The last two years, the music competition was held online due to Corona regulations. A small group of students from the music service organized the online music competition with the support of Susanne Sigg and Tiloudin Anjarwalla. Students were able to submit videos via upload links, which were then judged by the jury. The winning videos were then published on the school's YouTube channel.

Salem's creativity program focuses on encouraging the development of musical, artistic and artisanal skills. Participation of obligatory in Agess 5 & 6.
