Talented children from Berlin or the eastern states of Germany are awarded Beck Foundation scholarships that enable them to attend Salem. The foundation was set up by Hanno Beck, a Salem alumni, to support the Kurt Hahn Foundation and other German organizations. Now administered by his nephew, Dr. Clemens Beck and his wife, Claudia, the foundation is dedicated to promoting education and encouraging talented youth. Salem's Middle School library was renovated and expanded through the generous support of the Beck Foundation.
The Elisabeth Meurer Foundation provides support to students who have been accepted to study at the world-renown Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
