“Weltklasse” (“World Class”): New Bridging Programme for International Students

With “Weltklasse”, Salem is launching a one-year intensive programme designed to prepare international students specifically for entry into the German Gymnasium system.

With its new “Weltklasse” programme, Schule Schloss Salem is expanding its educational offering to include a one-year bridging course for international students. It aims to equip young people linguistically, academically and socially so that they can make a confident start at a German Gymnasium.

Moving into a new education system presents many young people with particular challenges. Alongside learning German, they must become familiar with new teaching methods and find their place within a new school community. This is precisely where “Weltklasse” comes in: with a structured timetable of 34 lessons per week, the programme combines intensive German as a foreign language tuition with gradual integration into selected subjects such as Mathematics, English and the Sciences.

Another key element of the programme is participation in boarding school life. Sport, clubs and school events create a wide range of opportunities to use the language in practice and help students settle into everyday life within the community.

Admission is possible from language level A1 onwards, and a basic knowledge of English is required. Within one year, participants acquire the prerequisites for transferring into a regular class in Years 5 to 7, with placement tailored individually to their development and learning progress.
