Apply now: A place for bright minds and powerful ideas with the plus-KULTUR funding programme
Four of Germany’s most distinguished boarding schools are combining their strengths to create a new model of gifted education. With plus-Kultur, Schule Schloss Salem, Stiftung Louisenlund, Sächsisches Landesgymnasium St. Afra zu Meißen and Internat Solling are launching a joint programme for exceptionally committed young people in the fields of literature, philosophy, culture and social responsibility.
With the upcoming academic year, centres of excellence for young talents will initially be established in Louisenlund and Salem for students from Year 10 onwards. The aim is to support young people who stand out for their intellectual curiosity, eloquence and interest in the major questions of our time.
The programme combines in-depth educational opportunities in literature, history and philosophy with essay workshops, Socratic seminars, debate formats and rhetoric training. It also includes mentoring, project work and personal encounters with figures from the worlds of culture, academia and the media. A growing network of universities, theatres, NGOs and think tanks will open up further opportunities for learning and experience beyond the classroom.
Admission will be based on a multi-stage selection process in which, alongside academic achievement, particular weight is given to motivation, creativity and social engagement. A central goal of the initiative is to make support for academic excellence accessible regardless of a family’s financial situation.
plus-Kultur is intended as a complement to existing MINT support programmes and as an invitation to young people to take responsibility and play an active role in shaping society.
