Experiencing Salem – Open Day with a Musical Finale
On Saturday, 21 March 2026, Schule Schloss Salem opened its doors to numerous visitors. Interested families, curious young people, and residents alike took the opportunity to experience the school and boarding life at close quarters. The Open Day offered a wide range of insights into lessons, our community, and the commitment shown by our students – vibrant, personal, and varied.
An exhibition by the art club, pieces produced in the carpentry workshop, musical performances, and guided tours of the school brought life and learning at Salem vividly to life. The service teams – the medical service, fire brigade, and THW – also gave an impressive presentation of their work. In conversations, performances, and encounters throughout the day, it became clear what defines our community: openness, responsibility, and enthusiasm.
The atmospheric finale came in the evening with a charity concert by the Bodensee Ärzteorchester in the Aula of Salem International College. Under the motto Into the New World, the programme featured Gioachino Rossini’s Wilhelm Tell Overture, Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, and Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World. Conducted by José Jesús Olivetti, the orchestra of more than 60 musicians delivered a powerful musical statement supporting social commitment. The concert raised €2,200 in donations for Salem Children’s Week – a holiday project for children from socially disadvantaged families, organised by Salem’s college students.
