Arriving at the Spetzgart harbour, we put on sun cream and carried the kayaks down to the beach. After putting on our life jackets and getting the paddles, we got into the kayaks. The first few metres were a challenge, but after a while everyone was able to handle their kayak very well. We paddle to the opposite shore and then on towards the island of Mainau. At the beach we took a break, swam and threw each other into the water. Then we paddled on to the open-air swimming pool in Überlingen. We jumped off the tower and enjoyed our pizzas. Afterwards, we went back to the harbour and you could tell that everyone was very tired. After this nice but exhausting kayak trip, we put the boats in their place and went home.

On Saturday 8 July, some Salem students from both the middle and upper schools undertook a challenging kayak tour from the Spetzgart harbour to the Island of Minau in hot weather. After about two hours, they reached their destination. Once there, the group had a refreshing lunch break in the water next to the island. The kayaks were brought to the shore and there was an opportunity to jump into the water and cool off from the heat and exertion, which of course no one missed. On the way back, there was another break at the Westbad, where there was pizza for everyone. It was the perfect end to an unforgettable outdoor trip.
