An Amazing IB School
by Joshua Parker, IB Coordinator
Every five years, IB World Schools undertake a ‘programme evaluation’ process. This year at Salem College we completed our most recent one – with a great outcome!

The IB Evaluation process helps schools to collectively reflect on their pedagogical practice and to collaborate with the IB to identify key areas for strategic development in the future. The IB Evaluation visit which took place in November was the final stage of our most recent IB Evaluation process. During this visit the Evaluation Leaders met with the various stakeholder groups in our school to reflect on our Professional Development Plan and the findings in our Self-Study Questionnaire.

After three days of intensive meetings with school leadership, IB teachers, parents and, of course, students, we received overwhelmingly positive feedback that serves as a wonderful reminder that there are so many aspects of our IB programme at Salem to celebrate – in the kind words of one of the evaluation leaders, “you are an amazing IB school”. A big “Thank you” to the Salem community for the support of this important process, and a special thanks to the teachers who opened up their classrooms and the students and parents who gave their time to share insights and experiences with the Evaluation team!
