Music that Moves – Charity Concert for Salemer Kinderwoche Delights the Audience
by Anna Soiné, Organiser of the Salemer Kinderwoche in collaboration with Luisa Matz, Assistant to the Headmaster
Art meets commitment: the Bodensee Ärzteorchester performed in support of the Salemer Kinderwoche – a success both musically and humanly.

On 5 April 2025, the auditorium at the Härlen Campus was transformed into a concert hall with a message: the Bodensee Ärzteorchester, conducted by José Jesús Olivetti, performed in support of a worthy cause – the revival of the Salemer Kinderwoche. The programme featured Wagner’s preludes to “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” and “Parsifal”, as well as Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 – works of profound emotional depth.

The performing physicians showcased not only musical precision, but also heartfelt dedication – delivering a moving plea for solidarity through music. Admission was free, with donations warmly welcomed. The audience responded generously. More than just a musical evening, the concert served as a powerful symbol of the connection between education, the arts, and social engagement. The proceeds, totalling approximately €1,300, will support the Salemer Kinderwoche – a holiday initiative for children from challenging family circumstances in the region.

This project offers children a much-needed break from everyday life – and the chance to enjoy a week filled with games, adventure and joy, where they take centre stage. The focus lies on physical activity, healthy eating, creative exploration, and social interaction. The children learn to be part of a community, to follow rules, and to treat others with respect.

What makes the project especially remarkable: upper school students take on the planning and implementation – in the spirit of Salem’s guiding principle, “Education for responsibility.” In this way, social commitment becomes a meaningful learning experience in the “service of the common good.”
