Pfingsttreffen of the Altsalemer: record attendance and moving moments

by Philippa C., 10D1
With over 1,400 guests, the 2025 alumni reunion at Whitsun was the largest in Salem's history - a reunion full of memories.

From Friday to Sunday, friends met up again, saw old acquaintances from school days or came together as a family with several generations. The programme began on Friday with the sailors' reception in Spetzgart harbour and reunions in local inns. On Saturday, an extensive daytime and evening programme was offered at Schloss Salem. Various exhibitions, school tours, a panel discussion, a tour of the Kurt Hahn archive and the ASV general meeting were followed by street food, a flying dinner and a party into the early hours of the morning.

On Sunday, things got sporty on the Härlen campus: in the traditional sports tournaments, alumni competed against current students - with passion and great commitment, the players tried to defend their titles in the sailing regatta, hockey, basketball and tennis. The day was accompanied by a book flea market, an original auction for a good cause, musical contributions from the college band, choir and orchestra, as well as the big Einsatzdienstevorstellung.

Although the weather did not always play along with occasional rain showers, the Altsalemer, to whom this festival means a great deal, made the best of it. Being able to observe this as a current student was particularly interesting. Seeing this network so vibrant and connected reassured me that graduating from Salem is not the end of the many friendships made here. On the contrary, I look forward to celebrating these great connections every two years with my family members who were also at Salem and the large ASV community and being reminded each time what a great and unique place Salem is.
