The 10th "Anniversary" Night of Friends inspires in a new location
by Britta Stocker, Friends of Salem
The Friends of Salem held their annual general meeting to coincide with the beginning of the autumn holidays and celebrated the Night of Friends in the Hanno Beck Auditorium directly afterwards.

Finally, the time had come again - after a break due to COVID, a "Night of Friends" took place again. On Friday, 21 October 2022, Salem parents and members of the Friends of Salem, as well as some Salem staff, gathered in and around the Schrote in Salem.

General meeting

At noon, Oliver Fischer, the chairman of the Friends of Salem Association, led the general meeting, which was attended by around 35 participants. In addition to a detailed report on the financial situation and the donations used, there were exciting presentations from various areas of the school - from the mountain bikes purchased last year, to comic book wishes for the Mentorat, to professional equipment for the ambulance service. As a new major project, the members agreed on the construction of an artificial turf hockey pitch on the Härlen campus.

Night of Friends

At the end of the meeting, things had to move quickly - after all, the bands, the caretakers, the Salem kitchen team and the cocktail bar were in the starting blocks for the changeover - the last chairs were put away and the dance floor prepared so that the auditorium was ready for the guests of the Night of Friends from 7 pm. 150 Salem parents and members of the Friends of Salem enjoyed the evening, which began with a champagne reception and a performance by the college band. The Friends of Salem, the Parent Council and the school's management welcomed the guests.

The Premium Style Event Band, which has been entertaining the Night of Friends for several years, set the mood and very soon the dance floor was full. Gesa Meyer-Wiefhausen, Head of the Staff Office of Schule Schloss Salem, did not miss the opportunity to celebrate the anniversary - the 10th Night of Friends - in a typically fitting manner. She sang "Happy Birthday" and presented the gigantic cake shaped like the number 10. She thanked Oliver Fischer for his work for the Friends of Salem and Britta Stocker for organising the Night of Friends.
