A look into our future
by Ida Gottstein, Grade 10
Our College Day: an exciting day full of decision making to shape our new day-to-day life at the College next school year.

On July 15th 2022, instead of attending regular lessons, all tenth graders spent the day at the Salem College. We started the day in Härlen, where we attended our first College school assembly and received a warm welcome from everyone.

A short walk in the sunshine through the beautiful Tobel brought us from Härlen to Spetzgart, where we had lunch with a great view of Lake Constance. We listened to a lot of presentations about the different sports, services, and activities that are offered at the College, and we made our choices for each. I was amazed at the variety of extracurriculars that are offered, and the decisions were not made easily.

At the end of the day we had the opportunity to talk to our potential future house tutors and to tour the campus and, most importantly, the wings. We were also able to request our roommates for next year. Personally this was my favourite part, because we were able to look around the wings and get a better view of what it will be like next year. Unfortunately we did not have a lot of time to look at the wings and talk to house tutors, since we soon had to get back on the bus and return to Salem, so that we would be back in time for the Abendsportfest.

Although the day was packed with presentations and information, it was a great opportunity for us to get to know the College and an important and exciting step to prepare us for next school year.
