Even before the Olympic Games in Paris this summer, Schule Schloss Salem will be presenting the original Olympic turf. Work has been underway at the Härlen campus since September 2023: The worn-out grass surface on the sports field has been removed and is now being replaced by a modern artificial turf pitch for hockey, football and other sports. The pitch can now be played on all year round and requires significantly less watering. In addition, hockey league matches up to Bundesliga level 2 are now possible at the Härlen campus.
The pitch was financed by a major fundraising campaign, the Friends of Salem's reserves totalling 200,000 € and by Schule Schloss Salem. A big thank you to all the donors who have generously contributed to the campaign so far.
The new pitch will be officially opened on Friday, 17 May 2024 with the legendary Salemer vs Altsalemer (men's and women's) hockey matches. From then on, the pitch can be used for all school teams, lessons and matches.
