The focus of Arts and Crafts is to encourage the artistic and technical talents of the students. Our students are instructed by experienced teachers and artists from the different activities on offer.
A piece of wood is on the work bench, uncarved and untreated. What can be created from it? A bowl, a cone? In the wood shaping Workshop this original piece of wood will be held in a vice and under the instruction of the master craftsman an everyday object or a piece of art will be created.
In our carpentry workshop you will be able to make wooden boxes of different sizes. Your tools – in addition to the workbench – will be saws, rasps and sandpaper. Here you will develop your dexterity, your accuracy and your sense of proportion!
Would you like to sew your own boxer shorts or skirt? Then you can choose a fabric and a pattern of your liking and off you go! You will be instructed how to proceed in our tailor’s workshop.
The students of the photography Workshop are constantly accompanied by their cameras, in search of a good and suitable subject. The pictures are edited on the computer. The photographer teaches students how to develop a good eye for a subject and supervises the editing work on the computer.
Have you always wanted to direct a film? You will have the opportunity in our film workshop. As a group, you will write a screenplay and turn it into a real film. Editing the different scenes will also be one of your tasks. The end product will be shown to parents during our final evening performance.
How about working in Picasso’s style, or perhaps in the style of Rembrandt? The blank canvas on the easel awaits brush and paint. The picture in your head wants to be put on paper. Under artistic instruction different forms, perspectives, shadows and colour compositions will emerge. In the painting Workshop one can definitely also raise the question: What is Art?
