We are pleased to offer students a wide variety of weekend excursions designed to suit every taste. Excursions depart on Friday afternoon and students travel with a minimum of two members of staff per group (max. group size 16 students). All groups return on Sunday afternoon to meet and exchange stories at a barbeque in Spetzgart.
Popular excursion is the Sailing option. Students get the opportunity to experience life on Lake Constance while sailing and living onboard our cutter. The weekend will include nautical evenings cooking, swimming, and playing games on the shore. After their nights onboard, the students will return to join their "mates" at the Barbecue in Spetzgart.
Students who have completed the rock climbing afternoon activity in the first week are eligible to choose Rock Climbing for their weekend excursion. Climbing in the spectacular Swiss mountains with a sleepover in an authentic Swiss mountain hut, the students enjoy the opportunity to use the skills they have learnt during the week in a high Alpine setting, surrounded by glaciers. There is also an option to take an official Alpine Club climbing certificate test.
The Alpine Hiking Tour is a much more physical excursion involving approximately 5-6 hours hiking each day. After travelling by school bus to the foot hills in Austria, approximately three hours drive away, our experienced and qualified leaders encourage the students to rise to the challenge of conquering high peaks. . On the second day, there is more hiking involved amidst the beautiful alpine scenery and panoramic views are enjoyed once the summit is reached! After each day of hiking, the Alpine Association mountain hut offers an opportunity for rest and relaxation
A less strenuous excursions is the one to the beautiful Black Forest: Hiking & Sightseeing! On a guided tour, and by completing a questionnaire, students learn about the history of the famous German university city of Freiburg, as well as climbing the cathedral tower for a bird’s eye view of the city. Students are also able to enjoy some free time exploring in small groups. The group will stay in comfortable youth hostel. The natural beauty of the Black Forest will be discovered during picturesque hiking tours – as well as enjoying the famous 'Feldberg’ near to the accomodation, they will also visit the peak of the mountain 'Schauinsland'.
Students chosing Kayaking and Camping will spend their Weekend Camping, cooking and playing games together at a campsite on the shore of Lake Constance. Together , with experienced leaders they will enjoy Kayak tours to various picturesque destinations, including the Island of Reichenau.
A new Weekend excirsion for 2017 is "Going West". By Walking, taking the Train and travelling by boat students choosing this tour will discover the countryside at the true west end of Lake Constance as well as enjoy the Hohentwiel fortress ruins and the town of Singen. The first night will be spent in a youth hostel, the second at a hay Hotel. (Not suitable for hay fever sufferers!)
