The globalisation process in economy and society is actually changing the requirements that young people have to live up to when they start their careers. In order to prepare them for rapidly evolving business environments the international focus in education is becoming more and more important.
At Schule Schloss Salem this development and the resulting challenges have been taken into account for many years: The first step was the introduction of the IB Diploma Programme for pupils in years 11 and 12 in 1991.
Consequently internationalisation has been introduced step by step in the Middle School and since 2008 the International Classes (years 8, 9 and 10) offer tuition according to the German system in English. The International Classes lead either to the International Baccalaureate or the German Abitur.
With this bilingual profile Schule Schloss Salem reacts to the growing demand for international education. At the same time the students in the German system profit as well since they spend their days in an international environment with cultural diversity.
The International Classes are appropriate for highly motivated pupils with a good command of English. However, talented German pupils may also be eligible for the International Class after attending a preparation course.
The IB programme is designed mainly for pupils from abroad and for German students with a background of a year in an English-speaking environment or with an educational history that points towards tertiary studies in an international context.
During Miidle School we offer exchange programmes with over 50 schools world-wide.
