What is TED?
TED (short for Technology, Entertainment, Design) was originally an annual innovation conference in California, best known for the TED Talks website, where the best talks are made available for free as videos.
What is TEDx?
TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to create a TED-like atmosphere, where the "x" stands for "independently organised". At a TEDx event, recorded TED Talk videos and live talks on a pre-defined topic are combined and presented to the audience. The events also offer space and time to exchange ideas on the presented topic.
TEDx: Schule Schloss Salem
This year, IB student Angela organised the second TEDx Talk on the Härlen campus together with the TEDx team from Schule Schloss Salem. The theme of the evening, "A World Unhinged", was initially inspired by the current coronavirus pandemic, but also invited discussion on various issues we face as a society. Three Year 1 students presented as speakers that evening: Katharina Flatt, Yiqing Chen and Eva Tantsyura. In addition, teacher Joshua Parker also appeared as a speaker at the event. The four live speakers talked about topics on environmental issues and problems of the modern education system.
