Salem hockey players finish the season in first place in their league
by Elsa Murach, Abi 1
Our field hockey players met Konstanz and Lahr last weekend.

Last Saturday, after the first successful tournament, the second match day was on the agenda for our girls of the school hockey team. In bright sunshine, the girls went to the last tournament of the female U18 round, in the Black Forest to Lahr.

The Salem girls played their first game against the already familiar opponent Konstanz. Like last time, the Salem team was extremely motivated and accurate. From the beginning, the girls in the blue jerseys dominated the game and were rewarded with the first two goals after only a few minutes. In the course of the game, they were able to increase the score to 5:1 despite conceding one goal.

Directly afterwards, our team had to face the hosting team Lahr, one of the strongest opponents in the league. From kick-off to the final whistle, the game proved to be an intense match that pushed both teams to their limits. After conceding an early goal, Salem managed to level the score at 1:1. But unfortunately, no further ball wanted to go into the opponent's goal, although there were various chances to do so. In the end, the girls could not equalise the second goal conceded despite their best efforts and thus unfortunately left the pitch as narrow losers.

Nevertheless, this defeat did not prevent the Salem girls from going home as winners of the table.
