"It was exhausting but a great experience"
The seventh graders of Schule Schloss Salem spent some outdoor days in the Alpstein mountains.

The two seventh graders drove from Monday, September 26, to Friday, September 30, with their accompanying persons Mrs. Schlick, Mrs. Engstler, Mr. Hößler and Ms. Reutemann to the Hundsteinhütte in the Appenzeller Land in Switzerland. After the ascent to the hut on the first day, the students and their companions met the landlord Peter and his helper Moni, who provided the group with delicious food throughout the day. Over the next few days there were some integration games, we learned to use GPS devices and undertook smaller and medium hikes.

Unfortunately, the big hike, for which Mr. Merlin had come especially for the event, could not take place due to the bad weather. But the small climbing course, as well as the cave hike, worked despite the frequent rain and offered many new experiences.

During the day, the students were often divided into two groups and then did these activities at different times – later on in the evening they met again and told each other about their experiences. After dinner there were small games, stories were told by adults or even a night walk was undertaken. All in all, the outdoor days serve to get to know each other, social interaction and, of course, living in nature with its many experiences and challenges. They are an integral part of the outdoor education of Schule Schloss Salem, which includes these elements outside the classroom for every year group. The cold and wet this year, however, were certainly a special challenge that some would have liked to do without. Nevertheless, a student of class 7 D 1 said that the outdoor days had been "cool".
