Four days under the open sky
by Thilo Wiggenhauser, Mentor
Building on the basic ideas of Kurt Hahn, Schule Schloss Salem implements a challenging outdoor education curriculum. In Year 6, the radius of activities is extended.

From 14 to 17 June 2021, the students of year six were out and about in the area around Lake Constance as part of the outdoor days. Accompanied by sunshine and under the guidance of three experts from wildsport-tours, teachers and mentors, the children experienced many exciting adventures:

They explored Lake Überlingen on a two-day canoe tour and completed an outdoor first aid course. The large-scale castaway activity was particularly exciting. During this activity, the sixth graders were "set free" in supervised groups in the idyllic surrounding countryside. Equipped with a map and compass, they had to find their way back to the castle.

Afterwards they camped under the stars in the castle garden, which was a premiere and a special experience for some.
