Special circumstances require special solutions, and this was the case for Schule Schloss Salem, too. Although at present it is difficult to visit the school in person, we want to offer interested parents and students a chance to see the school from the inside; so we decided to bring the school to you at home. On 17 April 2021 we conducted the first digital Open Day, during which we our students and educators showed Salem at its best with online presentations and live chats. They presented our school in a livestream and offered many glimpses into school activities and daily life in a boarding school. During the live chats they answered a wide range of questions from visitors.

One special highlight was a film premiere. Online visitors were able to explore our school through the lens of a drone. In this way they experienced a very special view of a castle steeped in history and the many buildings which are occupied by our boarding school. Has that made you curious? Thanks to over 200 registrations for the digital Open Day we were able to engage with a wide audience. In fact, one third of the participants came from non-German speaking countries, while two-thirds logged in from within Germany. A special thanks is due to all the Salem staff members who contributed to the success of this day. But we are especially proud of our students. Once again they proved themselves ready to take on responsibility with great aplomb.
