Entrance Ticket to Universities All Around the World:
The International Baccalaureate (IB)

Kurt Hahn was not "only" a co-founder of our school, but also one of the educators who helped draft the first internationally accepted high school diploma. Hence it is no wonder that the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme has long had its own very dynamic academic department at Salem. In recent decades a wide spectrum of classroom subjects and an enormously diverse extracurricular program of mandatory activities has been developed. These are divided into three areas - Creativity, Action and Service (CAS).

The final point score in the IB Programme is composed to 70% from the written exams which are held at the end of the final school Ages. In-class performance makes up about 30% of the results.

The two-Ages program follows an official calendar of deadlines for the completion of various classroom and school assignments.

The core of the diploma consists of:

  • The Extended Essay (an individual project)
  • Theory of Knowledge (a course on developing  analytical skills and critical thinking)
