The Music Service is offered to students at Salem College level, who have already been playing an instrument for several years and enjoy playing both as a soloist and in chamber music groups. Throughout the school year different pieces are rehearsed and concert programmes are arranged. The Music Service offers the music enthusiasts amongst the students the opportunity of learning how to master their instrument; in addition, they gain experience in playing at concerts and represent the School in the musical field.
The Music Service provides musical support with its contributions at the various different Salem concerts, as also the School Meeting at the Upper School. Furthermore, the Music Service has the task of organising and arranging events such as the Charity Concerts, for example, and also the Salem Music Competition that takes place every two years. In addition, the Music Service holds gratuitous concerts at social facilities such as old people's homes, homes for the disabled, or hospitals and thereby offers the people there a little diversion of a cultural kind.
As all the concerts are prepared and arranged by the members of the Music Service themselves, these students also have the possibility of developing their organisational skills.
