At Schule Schloss Salem children and young people can be admitted who are willing and able to fulfill the academic and boarding requirements, and also acknowledge the principles of Salem education. In Salem both academic and extra-curricular activities are compulsory, such as services, clubs and sport. Moreover, we expect pupils to take on offices and duties within the boarding school community. For these reasons, applicants must be motivated to take advantage of Salem's various special opportunities for their personal development.
Applicants for the German system must speak German well enough to take part in grammar school level lessons without any limitations.
All applicants for the International Classes or the IB Diploma Programme are required to be fluent in written and spoken English. We offer the chance to catch up on what is missing either in the course "German as a Foreign Language" or in the course "English as a Second Language".
Pupils can start at any level from Year 5 to 11. Entry in Year 12 or IB 2 is only possible in exceptional cases.
Admission during the course of the school year is not advisable but is possible with suitable justification.
Special rules apply for entry to the International Classes (8, 9 and 10) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and we will gladly inform you about these.
There are specific terms of admission to the Lower, Middle and Upper School. Please refer to the PDFs on the right for more information.
